Whispering Winds Naturals

Whispering Winds Naturals, a Bridgeport-based health and wellness company, produces a wide variety of hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) products for people and their four-legged friends. Our offerings include sublingual tinctures, healing ointments and analgesic balms, time released CBD patches, vape cartridges, CBD multi-vitamins, CBD Trim (weight loss) and botanical sprays infused with full spectrum cannabinoids. Our pet products include tinctures, treats and a beef broth powder, all infused with full spectrum cannabinoids. We share the endocannabinoid system with animals also, this is our body’s internal system which maintain homeostasis, allowing body mechanisms to function in a normal state.

The base cannabidiol is extracted utilizing subcritical CO2 extraction which is Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS) by the FDA. CO2 extraction, which uses liquid CO2 under moderate-to-high pressure and low temperatures to solubilize or sequester the cannabidiol from the hemp plant. Upon arrival at the extraction facility (Canna-Ventures of WV) the biomass undergoes extensive testing for herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals and Toxicological contamination. Once the biomass is cleared the extraction process begins.

Upon the transformation to cannabinol, the company tests again for a wide range of contaminants and total the cannabinoid content. Once it is cleared for use, retail products are manufactured in an FDA-approved facility according to GMP standards by a board-certified toxicologist who oversees other staff formulation and the chemist responsible for product manufacturing and development. We are partnered with several different associates across the United States. The oils produced in Harrison County are used to formulate a wide range of products from New Jersey to California. All of our products contain less than the legal limit of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) — the ingredient in marijuana that produces psychoactive effects — while maintaining one of the highest percentages of CBD by volume.

Jonathon Marks and his partners first began growing industrial hemp in the West Virginia hills about three years ago. We quickly figured out that West Virginia didn’t have a market for hemp so that’s where we parlayed into the extraction facility, which created a market for the farmers and their hemp biomass. The natural next step was to create a marketable product line using oil extracted at the facility. The primary focus of Whispering Winds is to put out a very transparent product. We go to great lengths to ensure that the customer knows what they’re buying and that the cannabidiol content is what we say it is.

Customers can instantly access third-party testing results for all of our products by scanning the small QR code on each label. Our products can be found at our retail location on Bridgeport’s East Main Street, on our website, and on the shelves of local pharmacies and retailers. In an effort to support and further the research of the Cannabis Plant and the cannabidiol oil it produces, Canna-Ventures and Whispering Winds have begun indirect conversations with a local university. We are confident that this research will enable the benefits of cannabidiol to be exploited for those individuals in need of a natural remedy, while staying clear of synthetic pharmaceuticals. 

Due to hemp’s close association with marijuana and a host of negative stereotypes, an important part of growing and expanding the business is to help consumers understand what CBD is and the potential it offers. Fundamentally, the most important part of this is educating the consumers. Because of the misnomers and because of the lack of information and study, there is a big void out there. A majority of our work is educating the people who want to use the product and want to know how to use it the right way and what to expect.
